Pool equipment pad with pump, filter and heater beside a backyard pool

Equipment repair and installs

The pad is where a pool is won or lost. Repair when repair makes sense, replace when it does not.

What gets worked on

Pumps first, because a pump that is not moving water makes everything else a problem. A pump that is loud is usually bearings, a pump that will not prime is usually air on the suction side or a dry seal, and a pump that trips a breaker needs looking at now rather than later.

Then filters and the plumbing around them: sand changes, cartridge cleaning and replacement, DE grids, multiport valves that will not hold a position, unions weeping at the threads. Then heaters, which are the most expensive thing on the pad and the most commonly killed by a bad winterization. Then the small things that ruin a summer: timers, automation panels, salt cells, actuators, and pool lights that have gone dark.

  • Pumps repaired, reseal or replace, single speed and variable speed
  • Filter service, sand changes, cartridge and DE grid replacement
  • Heater diagnosis, repair and installation
  • Plumbing repairs at the pad and at the wall fittings
  • Timers, automation, salt cells, actuators and pool lights

Repair or replace

It comes down to the age of the unit, the price of the part, and whether the rest of it is about to go too. A three year old pump with a bad seal gets a seal. A fifteen year old motor with a rusted through housing does not, and putting a hundred dollar part in it is money set on fire.

Ohio also has a variable speed pump rule that has changed what makes sense on a replacement. When a pump does need replacing, the running cost over a season is part of the conversation, not an upsell tacked onto the end.

We had a wonderful experience with fox pools. Patti, rhe owner of the company, responded quickly to my call for help with my pool. We needed a new liner because of tree root problems. Within a couple of weeks we had a pool again! Patti and her team were fantastic. They were very easy to work with and very professional, and very reasonable! Thank you FOX POOLS

I have worked with Fox Pools for several years now. I was new to owning a pool and they came and taught me how to take care of it. In addition to opening and closing my pool each season, they have been extremely reliable with helping me as problems have come up. Trustworthy and professional totally describe my experience. I have recommended them to many people.

This was the first time using Fox Swimming Pool Services and so glad I took the chance. I was looking for a new company to service our pool and after reading the reviews, I decided to have them close the pool. I can't say enough great things about Patti the owner and Tessa who came out with her team to close the pool. So professional and polite. Definitely will be using Fox for all my pool service needs!! A++

Patti and team are very easy to work with. Great communication and excellent service. The team was very thorough in their work, and communicated very clearly. I transitioned to this pool company from another pool company. Night and day difference. They fixed several little things from the prior pool company as a courtesy during our heater and pool cover installs. Highly recommend these guys.

Fox Pools sent Cameron and Shea out to look at damage to PVC caused in the winter and to help us make the switch to Salt system. They took pictures asked great questions, got us an estimate and then scheduled to make the repairs and upgrades while having to fabricate some parts for our old heat pump.

Questions

Questions about this.

Usually bearings, and usually it gets louder until it seizes. It is a repair while it is noisy and a replacement once it stops.

Ask us about the specific unit. Some we will fit, some we will not, and we will explain why rather than just saying no.

Could be gas, pressure switch, flow, a control board or a cracked header from a freeze. It needs a look, not a guess over the phone.

Usually. Most niches let the fixture come out on its cord with the water in the pool.

We photograph the roof and show you. If pump, filter and heater repair is not what the roof needs, we say so and quote the work it does need.
