Salt systems, fitted and fixed

Salt is still chlorine, just made on site instead of poured in. Here is what changes and what does not.

What a conversion involves

A salt cell and its control board go in on the return line after the filter and heater, power gets run to it, and salt gets added to the water to the level the cell needs. From then on the system makes chlorine from the salt as water passes through, and the salt gets used and reused rather than consumed.

What changes day to day is the handling. No more jugs of liquid chlorine in the garage, no tabs to remember, and water that feels softer to swim in. What does not change is the rest of the chemistry. pH still drifts up on a salt pool, alkalinity still needs watching, and stabilizer still matters. A salt pool is not a pool that looks after itself.

  • Cell and control board fitted on the return after the filter and heater
  • Salt level set for the system, not guessed
  • Existing plumbing and bonding checked before anything is cut in
  • Cell cleaning, replacement and board diagnosis on existing systems
  • Straight advice on whether your pool is a good candidate at all

Salt and an Ohio winter

Cells stop producing in cold water, which is not a fault, it is how they work. The system gets shut down and the cell comes off at closing so it does not sit full of water through a freeze. That single step is why some salt pools go ten years on cells and others eat one every other season.

Salt is also hard on some deck materials and on any bare metal near the water. Worth walking the deck and the fence line before converting rather than after.

We had a wonderful experience with fox pools. Patti, rhe owner of the company, responded quickly to my call for help with my pool. We needed a new liner because of tree root problems. Within a couple of weeks we had a pool again! Patti and her team were fantastic. They were very easy to work with and very professional, and very reasonable! Thank you FOX POOLS

I have worked with Fox Pools for several years now. I was new to owning a pool and they came and taught me how to take care of it. In addition to opening and closing my pool each season, they have been extremely reliable with helping me as problems have come up. Trustworthy and professional totally describe my experience. I have recommended them to many people.

This was the first time using Fox Swimming Pool Services and so glad I took the chance. I was looking for a new company to service our pool and after reading the reviews, I decided to have them close the pool. I can't say enough great things about Patti the owner and Tessa who came out with her team to close the pool. So professional and polite. Definitely will be using Fox for all my pool service needs!! A++

Patti and team are very easy to work with. Great communication and excellent service. The team was very thorough in their work, and communicated very clearly. I transitioned to this pool company from another pool company. Night and day difference. They fixed several little things from the prior pool company as a courtesy during our heater and pool cover installs. Highly recommend these guys.

Fox Pools sent Cameron and Shea out to look at damage to PVC caused in the winter and to help us make the switch to Salt system. They took pictures asked great questions, got us an estimate and then scheduled to make the repairs and upgrades while having to fabricate some parts for our old heat pump.

No. It makes its own chlorine from the salt. The difference is how it gets there, not whether it is there.

Around a tenth of seawater. Most people notice the water feels softer more than they notice a taste.

Three to seven years, mostly depending on how often it gets cleaned and whether it was left plumbed in over winter.

Most vinyl liner pools, yes. We look at the equipment, the plumbing, the deck and any metal near the water before we say yes.

We photograph the roof and show you. If salt systems and conversions is not what the roof needs, we say so and quote the work it does need.
